If you are a movie buff, you don’t need a reason to watch the movie but if you are not Dear Zindagi will still make you fall head over heels in love with movies. Although Bollywood is the biggest film industry in India, it is more for quantity rather than quality. But Dear Zindagi is one such movie that has all the elements of a quality movie in terms of storytelling, direction, and performance. Here are the top 5 reasons to watch Dear Zindagi.

Story – it is not very often that a Bollywood movie has a concrete plot around which the story revolves. Dear Zindagi is a beautiful story about Kaira (Alia Bhatt) who is an ambitious budding director in her early 20’s, that gets the real taste of the uncertainty in life. This leads her on the verge of a psychological breakdown when she accidentally meets Dr. Jehangir Khan (Shah Rukh Khan) who is a psychiatrist and helps Kaira in overcoming her depression and form a new perspective on life. The refreshing part of the story is the prevailing view it counters, the view of labeling every psychological disorder as simply being mad and the fact that youth of India are now accepting and opening about it by seeking to counsel.

Shah Rukh Khan – the stardom and fan following of one of the biggest star across the globe doesn’t require an introduction, but it is not every day that you see him playing an extended cameo in a woman-centric movie. This raises multiple questions as to how important and special this movie is, but the biggest factor remains the presence of Shah Rukh Khan and how people are in awe of him whenever he is on the silver screen.

Gauri Shinde – you probably are not aware of the name but the movie “English Vinglish” will definitely ring a bell. One of the most promising and meaningful movies was directed by none other than Gauri Shinde, and Dear Zindagi is written and directed by her focusing on the problems surrounding a modern working woman, view of the society about a young independent woman especially about relationships and the taboos related to it.

Alia Bhat – many of you know her as the sweet and cute young little girl of the movie “Student of the Year” with only beauty and no acting talent to showcase. Well, that’s not the case anymore as with films like Highway, Udta Punjab and Kapoor & Sons she has proved her mettle and shown the industry that she can perform.

Dear Elements – with lyrics by Kausar Munir and Gulzar and music by Amit Trivedi, Dear Zindagi also has Ali Zafar and Kunal Kapoor as supporting cast. Sometimes all of these elements could also fail to make an impact, but the refreshing storyline of Dear Zindagi makes it a must watch.
