Global Erythromycin Thiocyanate Market Overview:
Erythromycin Thiocyanate is a commonly used macrolide antibiotic. It is a veterinary product for the treatment of infections by gram-positive bacteria and mycoplasma. It has been widely used as an animal growth promoter. In China, with tylosin, tetracycline and oxytetracycline, these are the most important veterinary antibiotic products exported. In addition, the product is used as an important intermediate in the synthesis of conventional macrolide antibiotics, for example, erythromycin, roxithromycin, azithromycin and clarithromycin. China started production of erythromycin thiocyanate in the 1980s to 1990s, but the yield was less than 100 tons. In 2007, it became the largest macrolide antibiotic exporter, with a production capacity of more than 10,000 tons. The antibacterial spectrum of erythromycin thiocyanate is similar to that of benzylpenicillin.
It has a potent effect against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, streptococci and pneumonia in Gram-positive bacteria, as well as some effects on Pasteurella and Brucella in Gram-negative bacteria. In addition, the product is effective against mycoplasmas, rickettsiae, leptospires, actinomycetes and ardias, but not against echerichia coli, salmonella and other negative intestinal bacteria. It is mainly used for serious infections caused by drug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and hemolytic streptococci, such as pneumonia, sepsis, endometritis and mastitis. In addition, it also has a beneficial effect on chronic respiratory diseases caused by mycoplasma in porcine mycoplasma pneumonia and in poultry. On the other hand, it is also used for the treatment of nocardiosis in dogs and cats, for the prevention of the disease of the white head and mouth of black carp, grass, and greyhound and other fish species, bacterial gill disease and carp blackfish disease, white silver, bighead carp and other fish, and tilapia streptococcal disease.
