The Alpujarra villages in the southern part of Spain (situated in the region of beautiful Andalusia) are a cluster of charming villages that extend across the provinces of Granada and Almeria. Being situated right next to Sierra Nevada (where you can find the highest peak of Andalusia), the villages are situated right inside a breathtaking landscape. Here a list of things you can do in the Alpujarra villages:

Taste the delicious local tapas. Of course, like every Spanish village, the Alpujarras have an excellent local cuisine and there are a lot of Tapas Bars where you can enjoy some really excellent food.

The cultural interest of the area lies in a the 50 small villages that were the last stronghold of the Spanish Muslims, that hided in the villages protected by the mountains. You should definitely visit the “Ruta de los Pilares” in Lanjaron, a really beautiful village with streets full of flowers, balconies and pillars.
